  1. Great blog! Are these sound files directly from your 78s? How do you do transfers? I own some 78s that I'd like to convert so I can listen to them on my MP3 player.

    Yes, these are all from my 78s.

    I have my turntable hooked up to a receiver which in turn has the audio running to the sound input to a computer using RCA stereo cables. Using Audacity software (a free download), the sound is recorded onto the computer. From there, it can be "cleaned" and edited with Audacity or other software and saved as an mp3.

    There are some turntables that hook up directly to a computer's usb port. I haven't had any experience with those, though.
