The Carter Family - Victor 23845 (1933)

Today has been the first record hunting opportunity in months now that soccer, tennis and gymnastic practice has come to an end. It felt good to get out and smell the musty, dusty flea markets and antique shops.

Came away with this one, which appears to be The Carter Family's last recordings on the Victor 23000 series.

Daniels & Torrence - Victor 20499 (1927)

Julius Daniels (November 20, 1901 – October 18, 1947) was an American Piedmont blues musician.

Daniels was born in Denmark, South Carolina, United States. He lived in Pineville, North Carolina, from 1912 to 1930, when he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. He first recorded in 1927, joined first by guitarist Bubba Lee Torrence and later by Wilbert Andrews. Daniels is buried at the Silver Mount Church Cemetery near Fort Mill, South Carolina.

The Historic Society of Bamberg County held the first Julius Daniels Memorial Blues Festival at the Dane Theater in Denmark, SC, on October 23, 2010.

Well...I thought I had completed my Gunn run a while back but with the acquisition of this Japanese pressing, I can now say that I have indeed done so.

According to Rust's discography, this side was the only one issued on an additional label.

Texas Alexander With Lonnie Johnson - Okeh 8640 (1928)

Alexander is said to have been cousins with Lightnin' Hopkins and the uncle of Frankie Lee Sims.

This record was found in a Goodwill store in Alabama a while back for less than a dollar...unfortunately, I was not the one who found it.
